VernacularCapacitor is a bio-capacitor fabricated by manual layering. Using charcoal as the energy storage medium, the structural body is made from biodegradable materials where 3D printed current collectors are embedded. By designing the shape of the current collectors, it is possible to realize electrical performance, as well as physical form. Rather than concealing energy inside a device, we attempt to make the materials and structure tangible. Unlike industrial products, we present the possibilities of capacitors that are manually made, shaped, and updated.
