MorphDrops is a kinetic installation in which water droplets dynamically change shape on a paper-like surface. The work applies the electrowetting phenomenon that occurs on a thin sheet printed with electrode patterns, enabling diverse transformations in droplet form. While resisting the force that drives them to maintain a circular shape, the droplets continuously transform in response to changes in wettability. Through the droplet behaviors that emerge from the interplay between surface tension as a natural phenomenon and wettability control imposed by human intervention, the work reconsiders the relationship between humans and materials.
