Bendflatables

インフレータブル構造のパウチの両面に熱可塑性プラスチックのプレートを重ねることで、薄いシートが自動的に屈曲し、折り紙のように立体的な形状を作り出します。空気の量によって折り曲げの度合いを変化させるだけでなく、 ヒーターを使用してプレートの柔らかくなる面を変えることで、折れ曲がる方向もプログラマブルに制御することが可能です。一枚のシートが複数の形状に変化する様子をご覧ください。

By attaching thermoplastic plates to both sides of the inflatable structure’s pouches, the thin sheet can automatically bend into 3D shapes similar to origami. This method not only changes the bending angle based on the air volume, but also programmably controls the bending direction by alternately softening different plates with the heaters. Please observe how a single sheet dynamically transforms into multiple shapes
