Helixels <ver. 8x8>
Helixelsは、実素材を上下動させて形状表現を行うディスプレイに、さらなる質感の幅をもたらす研究です。形状ディスプレイを構成するリニアアクチュエータのうち、2本ずつを架橋するようにスプリング状のモジュール群を取り付けます。モジュールは両端のアクチュエータの高さの違いに応じて見えるレイヤが変わることから、各レイヤに異なる色や形状を配置することで動的な見た目の質感をモジュールに与えます。展示では、64個のモジュールが連動する実体質感形状ディスプレイと、これまでデザインした付け替え可能で質感の変容するモジュールを紹介します。
Helixels is a research project that displays shape performance by moving physical materials up and down, thus creating a further variety of visual textures. Among the linear actuators that make up the shape display, a group of spring-like modules are attached, with each two bridged together. By changing the modules' visible layers based on the height difference between the actuators at two ends, placing different colors and shapes on each layer will impart dynamic visual textures to the modules. In this exhibition, we intend to introduce a tangible texture shape display with 64 linked modules and replaceable modules designed to change visual textures.
