熱膨張素材を厚みのある布の表面にプリントすることで、布製の立体物を造形する手法の提案です。今回の展示では帆布を素材として用い、XYプロッタで熱膨張素材のパターンを印刷したものをオーブンで加熱することで、立体的な形状変化を引き起こします。本手法では、膨張と共に布で折り紙のような形状を作成することができ、また膨張率を局所的に変えることでより複雑な形状やテクスチャを生み出すことができます。
This work proposes a method of creating three-dimensional objects by printing thermally expandable material on the surface of thick fabrics. In this exhibition, we used canvas as the material. Patterns of thermally expandable material are printed using an XY Plotter and then heated in an oven to create three-dimensional shape changes. With this method, it is possible to create origami-like shapes with fabric as it expands, and by locally adjusting the expansion rate, more complex shapes and textures can be produced.
