メタバース空間でアバターを用いたコミュニケーションが普及する中で、次第に自己と同一化され始めるアバターに対し、どのようにその関係を「終わらせる」かという新たな問いが生まれます。この作品では、長く連れ添ったアバターとの関係を弔うためのデザインとして、アバターと彼らが過ごした日々の記録を物理的特徴量に反映させて作成されるキャンドルを提案します。自身が作ったキャンドルはそのアバターとして過ごした日々を想起させ、キャンドルが燃えてなくなっていくまでの時間は、彼らの関係に弔いの感情をもたらすことができるでしょうか。
As communications using avatars are becoming widespread in the metaverse, a new question arises about how to "end" the relationship with avatars that gradually become identified with oneself. In this work designed to mourn for the relationship with a long-time companion avatar, we propose to transform the digital data of the avatar and the records of the days spent with them into the physical characteristics of the candle. Candles made by oneself may evoke memories of the days spent with that avatar, and the time it takes for the candle to burn away may bring a sense of mourning to their relationship.
